WTCS Curriculum: Strategies and Tools

This lesson is perfect for faculty who are new to the WTCS curriculum design.  It creates a foundation for all WTCS curriculum projects.

Competency: Use WTCS strategies and tools in course and program projects

Criteria:

  • Articulate the performance-based learning model used in the WTCS
  • Login to your college WIDS site
  • Access the WTCS Repository  
  • Use the WIDS search feature to locate programs and courses
  • Print a WIDS report

Aligned Course Review

Use this lesson if you have not worked on an Aligned Course Review project.

Competency: Prepare to participate in a systemwide aligned course review project.

Criteria

  • Explain the importance of aligned course reviews
  • Evaluate course competencies according to WTCS quality criteria
  • Evaluate course performance standards according to WTCS quality criteria
  • Summarize the key steps in the course review process
  • Locate a course outcome summary on the WTCS Repository

Use this lesson if you are new to Technical Skill Attainment (TSA) projects, or haven't worked on one in a long time.

Competency: Prepare to participate in a systemwide Technical Skill Attainment (TSA) project

Criteria: 

  • Examine the importance of TSA assessment to your program
  • Determine valid assessments that meet TSA guidelines
  • Evaluate program outcome statements according to WTCS quality criteria
  • Evaluate program outcome performance standards according to WTCS quality criteria
  • Use TSA-related documents on the WTCS Repository
  • Summarize key steps in the WTCS TSA process
